Oh what an achievement
That I have earned
But there is one thing
That I have learned

That I walked so far
But you couldn’t see
That I got my medal
An achievement for me

Two days of twenty five
Long tiring miles
And you were there in spirit
All the while

But your body and soul
Weren’t there with me
When I finished it all
With pride, glory and glee

I wish you had been
Alive on that day
To watch me walk
All that way

And then next year
I know that I shall do
Another walk of several miles-
Another Waendel without you.

P.S. the next time I walk the Waendel walk I shall think of you and do it for you like I did this year, I thought of you from mile 0 to mile 25- from beginning to end.
